DOOM 64 OST - Breakdown (MAP20)
Even for standards of a Doom game series, this track is highly unusual.
I mean, in PC Doom/Doom ][ we have some fusion of bluesy rock with stompin metal, not really usual stuff for first person blaster, 3DO version has an arranged version in heavy metal style, more straight for a violent video game, and Doom 64? Dark ambient. And still this track is very, very strange even for this genre. Hear for yourself.
One thing the console ports of Doom got spot-on was the ambient music - as I’ve mentioned before, the PS1 soundtrack is fantastically creepy.
